Introduction Jan 11, 2006
I've been considering adding a regularly updating section to my tutorials for a while. Spending time programming takes precedence over working on this webpage to me, but I'd like to be able to do both. I think by doing small updates instead of thorough tutorials I might be able to get by spending only a couple hours most weeks and keep on schedule. Sounds easy right? =) We'll see.
Target Audience
One part of writing tutorials is choosing an audience. The widest audience is probably the beginning/casual game programmer. However, what interests me is more technical and advanced 3D programming issues, and not the details of getting started in game programming, so this isn't my target audience. There are much fewer experts/professionals in any particular area. Luckily I probably won't know enough to go into so much detail only experienced experts understand me. =)
The level will also vary between tutorials. If you have a love of 3d programming you might find this site interesting whatever level you're at.
Topic Types
There will be no order or progression towards a goal, I'll just jump between topics that interest me. The articles will either be mathematical, descriptions of a certain topic, or just discussion/opinion. If I start to feel particularily ambitious I might even do sample programs. If I start to feel less ambitious I might drift towards general discussion and away from technical tutorials. Eventually when I have more updates I'll categorize them by subject, type, and level, and additionally make them searchable. I don't have any publicity planned currently, so there isn't much reason for the update schedule yet except to encourage me fill up this section. Once there's more here I may try actually getting readers. Still if you've somehow stumbled on this page and find it useful I encourage you to tell your friends or link to this page. |
